Carbon Black Announces VMware Digital Workspace Platform Integration

Carbon Black, the endpoint security and big data and analytics cloud platform provider, has announced an integration with the VMware Workspace One digital workspace platform.

Together, Carbon Black and VMware now provide predictive and automated security in digital workspaces, according to a prepared statement.

Carbon Black has incorporated its Predictive Security Cloud (PSC) threat analytics and Cb Defense next-generation antivirus offerings into Workspace One, the company stated. By doing so, Workspace One users can retrieve and analyze critical endpoint data, alerts and events from PSC and Cb Defense to improve their security orchestration capabilities, analytics, response and remediation.

In addition, Workspace One integrates insights across devices, users and apps to provide predictive security across a digital workspace, Carbon Black noted. The Workspace One Trust Network also is available to help organizations use security insights from Workspace One and various VMware partner solutions to protect, detect and remediate cyberattacks.

The Workspace One integration comes after Carbon Black and VMware in December partnered to deliver a joint cloud security solution that automates threat detection and response. With the Carbon Black-VMware joint cloud security solution, end users can leverage VMware AppDefense endpoint security capabilities in combination with PSC.

Carbon Black Adds to Its Executive Leadership Team

Meanwhile, Carbon Black has made several recent executive leadership appointments as it searches for ways to bolster its security offerings and engage with channel partners.

Some of Carbon Black's recent executive leadership additions included:

  • Tom Kellermann: Carbon Black last month named Tom Kellermann as its chief cybersecurity officer. Kellermann previously served as chief cybersecurity officer at enterprise data security solutions company Trend Micro, and today, supports Carbon Black's product and go-to-market initiatives and works across the company's sales, marketing, product and threat teams.
  • Cate Lochead: Carbon Black hired Cate Lochead as its senior VP of marketing in December. Lochead most recently served as chief marketing officer at MariaDB, an open source database created by MySQL developers, and is now responsible for promoting PSC and accelerating Carbon Black's global expansion.
  • Victor Gureghian Baez: Carbon Black in November appointed Victor Gureghian Baez, a former Microsoft executive, as its VP of worldwide channels. In this role, Gureghian Baez helps Carbon Black drive channel growth and expand its global footprint.

More than 3,700 organizations use Carbon Black solutions to safeguard their endpoints, according to the company. These solutions can be deployed via the cloud, on premise or as a managed service and help organizations protect critical systems and hunt cyber threats.
