Symantec Endpoint Security: Here’s What MSSPs Need to Know

Symantec has launched Symantec Endpoint Security (SES), an endpoint protection, detection and response solution designed to help organizations reduce their attack surfaces and identify and address cyber threats. The news comes after Symantec in January added endpoint security capabilities to its Integrated Cyber Defense threat protection, information security and compliance platform.

SES offers proactive managed threat hunting, remote investigations and pre-authorized remediation to help organizations stop endpoint attacks, according to Symantec. It can be deployed and managed via the cloud, on-premises or both.

In addition, SES provides protection across the cyber attack lifecycle, Symantec said. SES also uses artificial intelligence to help organizations optimize security decisions.

What Does SES Mean for Symantec?

SES arrives at a key time for Symantec and its channel partners. The cybersecurity company has been struggling to evolve in the ever-shifting cybersecurity market. Upstarts such as Carbon Black, CrowdStrike and BlackBerry Cylance (among others) have gained share with next-generation endpoint security platforms. Moreover, many of those newer companies have successfully built MSP- and MSSP-focused partner programs.

Amid that market landscape, Broadcom in August 2019 moved to acquire Symantec’s enterprise security business for $10.7 billion. The acquisition followed the resignation of Symantec CEO Greg Clark in May and numerous executive departures over the past year.

Still, Symantec and the SES offering could cash in on the growing endpoint security market. Global revenues in the sector are projected to increase at an annual growth rate of 20 percent between 2018 and 2022, industry analyst The Radicati Group stated. Also, these revenues could total nearly $13.2 billion by 2022.
