Mimecast for Microsoft Azure Sentinel Surfaces in Cloud Marketplace

Credit: Microsoft Azure

Mimecast now offers its Email Security solution for Microsoft Azure Sentinel via the Microsoft Azure Marketplace, according to a prepared statement.

The news comes after Mimecast last month acquired eTorch Inc. (MessageControl), a phishing mitigation security provider for Microsoft 365.

Azure Sentinel is Microsoft's cloud-based security information and event management (SIEM) platform.

Organizations can leverage Email Security in combination with Azure Sentinel to log email activity in real-time, Mimecast said. Email Security also powers Azure Sentinel's Log Analytics workspace and provides security teams with context to create custom queries based on Mimecast email security data.

In addition, Mimecast and Azure Sentinel together provide organizations with an integrated threat environment with custom analytics and dashboards, Mimecast Chief Strategy Office Christina Van Houten said. This ensures that organizations can leverage security alerts to reduce their incident response times and improve their cyber resilience.

Is Demand for Azure Sentinel Increasing?

Along with Mimecast, several cybersecurity companies and MSSPs have incorporated Azure Sentinel capabilities into their offerings, including:

  • CyberProof: Provides an integration that enables its customers to use Azure Sentinel to automate threat detection and incident response and recovery and access security insights via the Microsoft Intelligence Security Graph.
  • Open SystemsDelivers a managed detection and response (MDR) service equipped with Azure Sentinel capabilities.
  • Trustwave: Offers the Azure Threat Detection and Response service, which integrates with Azure Sentinel.

Azure Sentinel helps security administrators identify, detect and block cyberattacks in near-real-time and leverage intelligent security analytics. It also offers security orchestration, automation and response (SOAR) capabilities.
