MSP Hughes Network Systems Unveils MDR, SOCaaS Offerings for SMEs

Hughes Network Systems, an EchoStar company and broadband satellite services and managed network solutions provider, has incorporated managed detection and response (MDR) and security operations center-as-a-service (SOCaaS) offerings into its portfolio.

The MDR and SOCaaS offerings provide small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with “network security expertise from Hughes, plus the benefits of in-house, enterprise-grade protections,” Hughes said. In doing so, the offerings can help these enterprises prevent, detect and respond to cyber threats.

How Hughes’ MDR and SOCaaS Offerings Work

Hughes’ MDR service automates incident response and threat containment, the company said. It is backed by a team of security professionals.

Meanwhile, Hughes’ SOCaaS offering provides SMEs with access to certified SOC analysts who monitor and respond to network threats, the company noted. These analysts provide non-stop support to ensure that SMEs are protected against network attacks.

Furthermore, SMEs can use Hughes’ MDR and SOCaaS offerings in conjunction with one another to get real-time insights into their network security posture, Hughes indicated. They also can work with SOC analysts who will oversee their organizations’ security information and event management (SIEM) operations.

A Closer Look at Hughes’ Security Portfolio

Along with its MDR and SOCaaS offerings, Hughes provides compliance and risk management and managed unified threat management (UTM) services. Organizations can use Hughes’ compliance and risk management services to manage their operations in accordance with HIPAA, PCI-DSS and other data security regulations. Comparatively, Hughes’ UTM portfolio includes vulnerability management, content filtering and other software-defined wide area network (SD-WAN) and firewall services.

In addition, Hughes offers an SIEM platform that organizations can use to identify and mitigate threats, the company stated. The platform leverages Hughes’ SOC to detect threats across enterprise networks.

Hughes offers wired and wireless solutions to over 500,000 enterprises globally. It does not offer a channel partner program but has partnered with Fortinet and other cybersecurity companies.
