Rebellion, a Cyber Simulation Developer, in Deal with Sofwerx to Strengthen, Scale Cyber Readiness

Umbrella and rain binary code. Data protection and security and privacy concept

Rebellion Defense, a developer of mission-critical software for the defense and national security of the U.S. and its allies, has landed a contract from Sofwerx to extend the use of Rebellion’s Nova flagship platform. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.

A Closer Look at Nova, Sofwerx

The Nova platform is Rebellion’s flagship cyber readiness product that deploys active testing to simulate the behaviors of sophisticated, nation-state actors to accurately assess how cyber defenses perform against adversarial attacks.

Sofwerx was established under a Partnership Intermediary Agreement between U.S. Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) and DEFENSEWERX to help USSOCOM solve challenging warfighter problems. Sofwerx is a public facing emissary that facilitates collaboration, innovation, prototyping and exploration with industry, labs, academia, and government stakeholders.

The contract is structured to help Sofwerx make informed cyber defense decisions, fortify its network defenses and boost cyber posture of the company, officials said.

Sofwerx partners with non-traditional companies like Rebellion to help solve U.S. Special Operations Command’s (USSOCOM) most challenging problems. The goal of the partnership with Rebellion is to uncover network weaknesses that have the greatest mission consequence before adversaries can exploit them.

Rebellion, Sofwerx Execs Explain Nova

Commenting on the release of Nova, Chris Lynch, Rebellion chief executive and co-founder.

“As cyberattacks increase in sophistication and frequency, software is the key to securing cyber terrain at scale. Nova transforms defense operations by bringing adversarial testing in-house so organizations can do more with less, and more importantly, faster and better. This partnership accelerates the delivery of Nova’s capabilities to Sofwerx, as well as our goal to bring it to the broader DoD.”

London Braye, Sofwerx network security engineer, added:

“Rebellion Nova allows Sofwerx to leverage the latest insights and experience of red team operators to thoroughly evaluate our cyber defenses at will. Rebellion’s software platform provides active testing, which provides a clear understanding of our network vulnerabilities.
