Stellar Cyber Hires Exabeam, Cybereason, Fortinet Security Veterans; Open XDR for MSSP Push Continues

Open XDR security company Stellar Cyber has hired two key executives to drive the company's partner and product marketing initiatives forward. The hires include:

Tallent is well-known within MSP and MSSP partner circles. He previously held key posts at Cybereason and Fortinet. Tallent succeeds Brian Stoner, who recently joined DTEX Systems as VP of worldwide channels and alliances.

Salinas, meanwhile, previously held key product marketing positions at such security companies as Exabeam, Siemplify, Deep Instinct, Cylance (now BlackBerry Cybersecurity) and Alert Logic.

The hires come at a key time for Stellar Cyber. Dozens of security companies now promote various XDR strategies. Despite that competition, Stellar Cyber has been winning business with numerous Top 250 MSSP companies. Among the reasons: Instead of forcing MSSPs and end-customers to rip-and-replace their existing endpoint, network and cloud security systems, Stellar Cyber typically integrates with third-party market solutions.

With an eye toward additional growth, Stellar Cyber raised $38 million in Series B funding in November 2021. Key investors include Highland Capital Partners and Samsung Next.

Stellar Cyber: Executive Perspectives

Changming Liu, CEO, Stellar Cyber

In a prepared statement about joining Stellar Cyber, Tallent said:

“I am elated to join Stellar Cyber, whose Open XDR approach creates an enormous opportunity for MSSPs to streamline their security operations. XDR is an evolution, not a revolution in security services, and it shouldn’t mean vendor lock-in. I look forward to continuing to be an advocate for MSSP service evolution and helping partners be more effective and profitable in security service delivery.”

Added Salinas:

“There is an underserved segment of the market that for years has been an afterthought for the majority of cybersecurity vendors. Stellar Cyber is committed to delivering solutions for this market that provide value from day one, and I couldn’t be more excited to bring my experience to the team to help spread the word.”

Concluded Changming Liu, CEO and co-founder of Stellar Cyber:

“We are extremely pleased to welcome Stephan and Stephen to the Stellar Cyber management team. They join at an excellent time. As we continue to experience significant growth with both MSSP and enterprise customers, it is essential that we add experienced executives like Stephan and Stephen to help accelerate our rapid worldwide expansion.”
