AlienVault Adds Unified Security Management Platform to AWS Marketplace

AlienVault, a company that specializes in unified security management (USM) and crowdsourced threat intelligence, has added its USM Anywhere threat detection platform to the Amazon Web Services (AWS) Marketplace, according to a prepared statement. Now, AWS customers can leverage USM Anywhere to protect on-premises physical and virtual infrastructure, business-critical cloud applications and assorted cloud environments.

With USM Anywhere, AWS customers can gain security insights within minutes of deployment, AlienVault stated.

USM Anywhere leverages application programming interfaces (APIs) that provide AWS customers with security monitoring and alerting on administrator and user activities, AlienVault said. It also works in conjunction with Amazon CloudWatch, AWS CloudTrail and other AWS services to provide access logs and other security insights.

In addition, USM Anywhere empowers AWS customers with a variety of security capabilities, including:

  • Asset discovery.
  • Behavioral monitoring.
  • Intrusion detection.
  • Log management.
  • Security information and event management (SIEM).
  • Threat intelligence.

USM Anywhere is delivered as a service via a monthly subscription. It is purpose-built for threat detection, AlienVault indicated, and scales to meet the demands of today's rapidly evolving IT landscape.

AlienVault Partners with ConnectWise, Upgrades OTX Community

AlienVault offers cloud security management, threat detection and other cybersecurity solutions that are deployed by MSSPs worldwide. The company continues to make strides in the managed security services market, which is reflected in some of its recent moves.

This month, AlienVault started offering USM Anywhere to ConnectWise MSSP and technology solution provider (TSP) partners within the ConnectWise Manage professional services automation (PSA) platform. The AlienVault-ConnectWise integration, unveiled at IT Nation, enables ConnectWise partners to offer USM Anywhere security monitoring and management services.

AlienVault in July announced various Open Threat Exchange (OTX) community enhancements designed to help participants contribute and consume threat information. These upgrades included:

  • Adversary Pages: Enable participants to compile information on threat actors and groups.
  • Groups: Empower participants to create public or private forums to discuss cyber threat trends and share threat intelligence.
  • Pulse Creation Tools: Allow participants to create "pulses" to assess cyber risks and safeguard their IT environments accordingly.

OTX is the world's largest crowdsourced threat intelligence community, according to AlienVault. Today, the AlienVault Labs threat research team analyzes data submitted to OTX by more than 65,000 participants from more than 140 countries.
