Arctic Wolf Networks, a security operations center-as-a-service (SOCaaS) provider, has named Dan Larson as its SVP of marketing. Larson will lead Arctic Wolf's marketing strategy, including its product marketing, demand generation and field and partner marketing initiatives, according to the company.

Larson has more than 15 years of sales, product and marketing leadership experience. He previously served as VP of product marketing at endpoint protection platform provider CrowdStrike and director of technical marketing at Intel Security.

Larson takes the new position roughly nine months after Arctic Wolf announced a pure channel sales strategy.

Arctic Wolf R&D

The Larson hire comes after Arctic Wolf in December 2019 added managed containment capabilities to its Managed Detection and Response (MDR) service. Arctic Wolf MDR managed containment blocks data exfiltration and threat propagation, as well as delivers continuous monitoring and containment reporting and notifications, the company noted.

In addition, Arctic Wolf in November 2019 integrated account takeover risk detection capabilities into its Managed Risk service. The risk detection capabilities allow organizations to use Managed Risk to identify corporate credential exposures on the dark web, the company indicated.

A Closer Look at Arctic Wolf

Arctic Wolf, which raised $45 million in Series C funding in October 2018, provides an SOCaaS that delivers security monitoring, risk management and threat detection and response. It also offers MDR and Managed Risk services backed by a Concierge Security Team that provides custom threat hunting, alerting and reporting.

Furthermore, MSPs and solution providers can join Arctic Wolf's partner program to integrate its SOCaaS into their portfolios. The program provides partners with access to a dedicated Concierge Security Engineer and includes a managed security information and event management (SIEM) tool.

The SOCaaS market for MSSPs and MSPs is quite crowded. Numerous software companies, MSSPs, distributors and cyber consulting firms promote SOCaaS options to MSSPs and MSPs.
