The new developments surfaced just ahead of this week's Barracuda Secured 21 virtual customer conference. Among the new offerings to note:

  1. Incident Response: Barracuda expanded its incident response capabilities with new automated workflows to "help customers proactively identify threats and take quick and effective action to remediate them." Customers can leverage public-facing APIs as well as their current SOAR, SIEM and XDR solutions, Barracuda adds.
  2. Secure Access Service Edge (SASE): Barracuda unveiled a cloud-native SASE platform that "enables businesses to control access to data from any device, anytime, anywhere." The platform brings together Secure SD-WAN, Firewall-as-a-Service, Zero Trust Network Access, and Secure Web Gateway technology from Barracuda to "achieve SASE convergence," the company says.
  3. Data Inspection: The new Barracuda Data Inspector allows customers to automatically scan Microsoft OneDrive for Business and Microsoft SharePoint data for sensitive information and malicious files. Customers using Barracuda Data Inspector can identify whether data has been shared internally or externally, and where it’s stored to help them make decisions on how to act on it, the company says.

Barracuda Maintains MSP Security Partner Focus

Brian Babineau,

The announcements arrive roughly one month after Hatem Naguib succeed BJ Jenkins as Barracuda's CEO. Jenkins exited Barracuda to join Palo Alto Networks as president, but remains on Barracuda’s board of directors.

Naguib, in an August 2021 conversation with MSSP Alert, vowed to maintain Barracuda's focus on MSPs for SMB customer engagements. Barracuda, backed by private equity firm Thoma Bravo, successfully pivoted its channel partner business model toward MSPs in recent years. Naguib has been part of Barracuda’s executive team during that pivot toward MSP partnerships.

In addition to Naguib’s commitment to MSPs, Barracuda Networks GM Brian Babineau has led the company’s MSP solutions strategy since 2016.
