EC-Council Seeks Investors, Up for (Partial) Sale?

EC-Council apparently is seeking investors to acquire a minority stake in the cybersecurity certification organization, though a majority sale may also be considered, according to a report.

The firm, also known as the International Council of E-Commerce Consultants, could be valued at about $600 to $800 million, according to a Bloomberg report about the organization's plans. MSSP Alert has not independently confirmed the report.

EC-Council has trained more than 200,000 information security professionals since launching in 2002. The organization is well known for it Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH) program and other training options for IT security analysts, forensics experts, CISOs and other types of cyber careers. It also hosts such conferences as Hacker Halted, Global CISO Forum, TakeDownCon and CISO Summit.

Annual EC-Council revenues, income and profit margins are undisclosed.
