FireEye has introduced two managed detection and response (MDR) offerings: Managed Defense Nights and Weekends and Managed Defense for Endpoint Security.
Managed Defense Nights and Weekends provides 24x7 threat protection, according to FireEye. In doing so, Managed Defense Nights and Weekends enables organizations to continuously guard against cyberattacks without hiring additional staff.
Comparatively, Managed Defense for Endpoint Security delivers real-time threat detection, one-click threat containment and threat alert management, hunting, investigation and response, FireEye said. It also is backed by FireEye threat researchers and defense consultants.
Managed Defense Nights and Weekends and Managed Defense for Endpoint Security are now available.
MSSP Alert is checking to see whether resellers, MSPs and MSSPs can potentially:
- Resell the MDR services to end-customers or
- Consume the services in a co-managed scenario, essentially leveraging FireEye to fill in MSP and MSSP cybersecurity gaps.

FireEye Acquires Verodin, Upgrades Email Security Solution
In addition to the new MDR services, FireEye in May acquired security instrumentation company Verodin for approximately $250 million. The Verodin acquisition is expected to add approximately $20 million to billings in 2019 and more than $70 million to billings in 2020, FireEye indicated.
Furthermore, FireEye in January integrated its MalwareGuard machine learning engine into FireEye Email Security – Server Edition. FireEye also incorporated full URL rewrite, executive impersonation protection and other security capabilities into Email Security at this time.
FireEye provides cybersecurity solutions to over 7,900 customers worldwide. The company expects its total revenue to fall between $890 million and $900 million in 2019, up from $831 million in 2018.
