17. Momentum: The cybersecurity arm at French defense electronics group Thales has generated 900 million euros ($1.10 billion) in sales in 2017, up from 700 million euros in 2016, according to Reuters. The division is expected to grow roughly 10 percent annually for the next few years.
16. Crypto Hack: Thousands of websites, including ones run by U.S. and UK government agencies, were infected for several hours on Sunday with code that causes web browsers to secretly mine digital currencies, Reuters says.
15. AWS Encryption: DynamoDB users have a new encryption option from Amazon Web Services, as the cloud leader continues to try and make it difficult to leave your precious data unsecured, GeekWire notes.
14. Talent: The National Retail Federation has hired Christian Beckner, a Washington cybersecurity think tank expert and former U.S. Senate homeland security advisor, to head its cybersecurity program that helps retailers protect sensitive consumer data nationwide.
13. Olympic WiFi Hack?: PyeongChang Olympic organizers are investigating a possible attack on their internet and Wi-Fi systems about 45 minutes before the opening ceremony, The New York Post reports.
12. DDoS Mitigation: Neustar has expanded its DDoS mitigation defense network in EMEA (Europe, Middle East, Africa). Scrubbing centers in London, Frankfurt, Amsterdam and Marseille have been expanded, while new facilities in Stockholm and Tokyo have gone live, the company says.
