Here’s the update for Monday, June 18, 2018.

13. Huawei vs. Australia: Chinese telecoms equipment maker Huawei Technologies refuted Australian claims it poses a security risk, calling the criticism “ill-informed” in an open letter on Monday that threatens to inflame already heightened Sino-Canberra tensions, Reuters reports.

12. Kaspersky Lab vs. European Union: The anti-Kaspersky Lab rhetoric continues to heat up in Europe, with the European Parliament passing a motion branding the Moscow-based anti-virus firm's software as being "confirmed as malicious," according to Bank InfoSecurity. In response, Russia-based Kaspersky Lab says it's halted all work with European institutions, including Europol -- the EU's law enforcement intelligence agency -- until it receives clarification from the European Parliament, the report says.

11. Liberty Insurance Cyberattack: The Chief Executive of South African insurer Liberty Holdings said its customers did not appear to have suffered any financial losses after the company reported earlier on Sunday that it had become the victim of a cyber attack, Reuters reports.

10. IoT Security Standards: The government’s consumer safety advocate should consider requiring internet-connected device manufacturers to advertise which safety standards they’re following and which they aren’t, a Federal Trade Commission division said Friday, according to NextGov.

9. Financial Services Regulations: The Bank of Ghana (BoG) has urged all fintechs operating in the country to improve their cybersecurity systems to meet international standard requirements ahead of the passage of the Payment Systems and Services Bill by end of 2018, according to GhanaWeb.

8. MDR: Gartner has unveiled its 2018 Market Guide for Managed Detection and Response Services.

7. Expansion: PricewaterhouseCoopers is standing up its cybersecurity center and technology innovation hub in downtown San Antonio, BizJournals notes. Roughly 30 employees at PwC involved with cybersecurity and technology are expected to move into the center when it opens today.

6. AWS Cloud Reseller: Earthling Security is now an Amazon Web Services (AWS) authorized government reseller for U.S. federal, state, and local governments. The company's managed services address cloud security, compliance, data analytics and DevOps.

5. MSP Rebrands: PC Troubleshooters, a Rhode Island MSP founded in 1992, has rebranded as Secure Future Tech Solutions amid its growing cybersecurity focus.

4. M&A: ITC Secure (ITC), a specialist cyber advisory and managed security service provider (MSSP) has unveiled its new business structure following recent acquisitions of advisory groups in London and Washington D.C. The three business groups are ITC Cyber Advisors, ITC Managed Security Services and US based, ITC Global Advisors. 3. M&A: F-Secure is acquiring MWR InfoSecurity, a privately held cyber security company operating globally from its main offices in the UK, the US, South Africa and Singapore. We'll share more details soon.

2. Partner Program: Cylance is emphasizing quality over quality in its channel partner program, according to a recap of the endpoint security company's recent European partner gathering.

1. Conference: The SANS New York City Summer 2018 (#SANSNYC) is scheduled for August 13-18.
