Microsoft Office 365 ProPlus Security Policy Advisor: What Is It?

Microsoft has announced Security Policy Advisor, a new security service for Office 365 ProPlus.

Security Policy Advisor enables IT administrators to roll out and manage the following capabilities:

  • One-click deployment of security policies to end users.
  • Policy impact monitoring and reporting.
  • Security and productivity insights.
  • Security policy recommendations.

Security Policy Advisor is now available as a preview version in English. Microsoft also plans to release its Security Policy Advisor preview in new locations in the upcoming weeks.

Microsoft Begins Azure Sentinel Beta Tests

In addition to its Security Policy Advisor preview launch, Microsoft in February began beta testing for its Azure Sentinel security information and event management (SIEM) platform.

Azure Sentinel collects data across an organization's applications, devices, infrastructure and users and delivers security analytics and threat intelligence, Microsoft indicated. It also provides security alerts, correlated analysis of security events and cyberattack visualizations and uses data from Office 365 and other Microsoft products to help organizations investigate cyber threats.

Azure Sentinel is available free of charge as a preview. Microsoft intends to disclose pricing at the Azure Sentinel preview's conclusion, and a paid launch date has not been announced.

MSSPs Take Note

CyberProof, a Top 100 MSSP, in March announced an Azure Sentinel integration. With the integration, CyberProof customers can use Azure Sentinel to automate threat detection and incident response and recovery and access security insights via the Microsoft Intelligence Security Graph.
