MSSP News Alert: Friday 21 April 2017

Each morning MSSP Alert broadcasts a quick lineup of news, analysis and chatter from across the global MSSP (managed security services provider) ecosystem.

Here’s the lineup for Friday, April 21, 2017:

4. Firewall Mismanagement: Roughly half of IT security professionals say their organizations have firewall configuration change that opened a potential security breach that caused business, according to a FireMon study.

3. Information Leakage: A Dell End-User Security Survey finds that not only are many employees likely to share confidential information, but that they are doing so without proper data security protocols in place or in mind. In fact, 45 percent of employees admit to engaging in unsafe behaviors throughout the work day. Hmmm... ...

2. Anti-Ransomware: Sophos anti-ransomware technology, called CryptoGuard, is now available with its Sophos Server Protection products. With this optimization, Sophos Server Protection now has signature-less detection capabilities to combat ransomware -- similar to Sophos Intercept X for endpoints. In September 2016, Sophos launched Sophos Intercept X with CryptoGuard, which stop the spontaneous encryption of data by ransomware within seconds of detection.

1. Countdown to Launch: Yup. We wrote this blog on Friday, April 21 — quite a bit before MSSP Alert’s anticipated launch day in mid-2017.
