Cloud Security Startup Wiz Raises $130M At $1.7B Valuation

Wiz, an Israeli cloud security startup launched by Microsoft veterans in March 2020, has received $130 million in Series B funding to bring its valuation to $1.7 billion, according to a prepared statement.

The Series B financing is expected to help Wiz bolster its cloud infrastructure security platform, the company said. It comes after Wiz raised $100 million in Series A funding in December 2020.

Wiz offers a full stack security platform that connects to a multi-cloud environment in 15 minutes, CEO Assaf Rappaport said. The platform can scan within an organization's virtual machines (VMs) and containers without an agent.

Key features of Wiz's platform include:

  • External Exposure Insights: Analyzes an organization's cloud network to show which resources are publicly exposed to the Internet
  • Identity Protection: Helps an organization identify all keys located across its workloads cross referenced with privileges they have in a cloud environment
  • Inventory and Asset Management: Provides an inventory of all services and software in an organization's cloud environment
  • Secure Configuration: Allows an organization to assess the configuration of its cloud infrastructure, Kubernetes and VM operating systems against baselines and industry best practices
  • Vulnerability and Patch Assessment: Scans for vulnerable and unpatched operating systems, installed software and code libraries in workloads prioritized by risk

In addition, Wiz's platform integrates to Jira, ServiceNow and other workflow and service ticket solutions, the company stated. This enables end-users to create tickets directly from Wiz's platform and send critical notification alerts to security teams within messaging applications like Slack or via email.

Over 10 percent of the Fortune 500 are using Wiz's platform, Rappaport noted. Meanwhile, Wiz continues to search for ways to enhance its platform's capabilities.
