Cyemptive Technologies has acquired Interpreting Technology. The deal unites a cybersecurity firm with an IT services and support company with ethical hacker expertise. Both firms are based in the state of Washington. Financial terms were not disclosed.

This is M&A deal number 244 that MSSP Alert and ChannelE2E have covered so far in 2020. See the complete M&A deal list here.

Cyemptive emerged from stealth mode with $3.5 million in Series A funding in early 2020. The startup develops pre-emptive cybersecurity products and various managed services. The company's executive team includes multiple NSA and Microsoft veterans -- including Microsoft's former CISO.

Interpreting Technology specializes in business IT support, including security compliance, virtualization, backup and Office 365. The company also has ethical hacking and forensics expertise. Cyemptive gains roughly 250 customers from the deal. All of Interpreting Technology team members are joining Cyemptive, though headcount figures were not disclosed.

Cyemptive Acquires Interpreting Technologies: Executive Perspectives

In a prepared statement about the deal, Cyemptive CEO Rob Pike said:

“Interpreting Technology is an award-winning organization with an impressive team that has built an excellent reputation for quality, innovation and customer service over many years of serving their clients in the Pacific Northwest, led by their CEO, Pamela Santangelo and Adrian Santangelo, Founder and CIO.  The addition of the entire team, along with Adrian’s past background in “white hat” hacking and his deep forensic expertise, adds significant bench strength to Cyemptive.”

Added Jim DuBois, Cyemptive Chief Strategy Officer and former CISO for Microsoft:

“The acquisition of Interpreting Technology adds additional expertise and customer focus to the Cyemptive team. Interpreting Technology’s computer forensic experience as well as their work in helping shape the certification process around the Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification, known as CMMC - the certification procedure developed by the Department of Defense to certify that contractors have the controls to protect sensitive data - establishes a strong compliance service offering within Cyemptive to complement our groundbreaking failsafe, pre-emptive cyber protection technologies.”

Concluded Adrian Santangelo, founder and CIO of Interpreting Technology, who is joining the Cyemptive leadership team:

“Our customers have always been our primary focus. Cyemptive’s cyber protection technology is groundbreaking like no other we’ve seen to date, and completely changes the model for cybersecurity. The combination of Cyemptive’s disruptive technology, Interpreting Technology’s customer sales and support, and the expertise existing in both companies creates a company strongly positioned to make a major difference in cybersecurity.”

Cyemptive R&D

Cyemptive has also been busy on the R&D front. The company recently unveiled Version 2 of Cyemptive Enterprise Scanner (CES V2). The software preemptively scans for infected files such as ransomware, malware, and other cyberthreats before they infect a system, as compared to other existing scanning technology that detects files only after the infection has commenced, Cyemptive asserts.
