Cloud App Security Acquisition: Exabeam SIEM Buys SkyFormation

Exabeam, a security information and event management (SIEM) platform provider, has acquired Israeli cloud application security company SkyFormation for an undisclosed sum. The acquisition comes after Exabeam in May closed a $75 million Series E funding round.

The SkyFormation acquisition enables Exabeam to establish an office in Israel, the company said. It also provides Exabeam with greater access to cybersecurity talent and expands the company's cloud security market reach.

Exabeam has a growing technology partner alliance program and also works closely with a growing base of MSSPs (managed security services providers). The company plans to rally partners and customers at the Exabeam Spotlight19 conference in September. Key Exabeam adopters include NTT Data, which has sister companies on our Top 100 MSSPs list.

Exabeam, Onapsis Announce Partnership

In addition to its SkyFormation acquisition, Exabeam in March announced a partnership with enterprise resource planning (ERP) cybersecurity and compliance solutions provider Onapsis.

With the partnership, Onapsis has integrated its ERP cybersecurity solution into the Exabeam Security Management Platform (SMP), the companies said. That way, security teams can use Exabeam SMP to collect ERP vulnerability logs from Onapsis via syslog, combine ERP data with information from other systems and display ERP data in machine-created timelines to investigate cyberattack tactics and techniques.

Exabeam SMP: Here's What You Need to Know

Exabeam SMP is a cyber threat detection and response platform that leverages data collection, machine learning and analytics to help organizations combat cyberattacks. It detects anomalous behavior and suspect lateral movements across an organization's systems and automates and orchestrates incident response.

Furthermore, Exabeam enables MSSPs, systems integrators (SIs) and other channel partners to integrate Exabeam SMP into their portfolios via the Exabeam 3D Partner Program. In doing so, Exabeam ensures channel partners can leverage Exabeam analytics, incident response, big data and compliance and audit capabilities, the company says.
