Intraprise Health, a risk management platform provider, has acquired HIPAA compliance automation software company HIPAA One. With the acquisition, Intraprise Health will combine its Protect platform with HIPAA One's security, compliance and privacy products to help CISOs and security teams address risk management and HIPAA compliance requirements, according to a prepared statement.

This is M&A deal number 16 that MSSP Alert and sister site ChannelE2E have covered so far in 2021. See all technology M&A deals for 2021 and 2020 listed here.

Protect and HIPAA One's product suite drive security and compliance across healthcare organizations' systems, applications, networks and devices, Intraprise Health noted. They provide CISOs and security teams with workflow automation, policy and procedure management, collaboration, task management and auto-report generation capabilities supported by a professional services team comprised of healthcare security, compliance and privacy experts.

Also, Protect and HIPAA One's product suite automate HIPAA risk analysis, HIPAA One President Steve Marco said. In doing so, they help healthcare organizations relieve the administrative burden of HIPAA risk analysis.

US, UK Officials Issue Warning About Healthcare Cyberattacks During COVID-19 Pandemic

Intraprise Health's HIPAA One acquisition comes as cybercriminals are actively targeting healthcare organizations during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, U.S. and UK cybersecurity officials said in a joint statement. These officials also warned that advanced persistent threat (APT) actors are analyzing COVID-19 intellectual property on national and international healthcare policy and research data.

U.S. and UK officials have offered several recommendations to help healthcare organizations guard against cyberattacks during the pandemic, including:

  • Install security updates and patches regularly on all networks and devices
  • Leverage multi-factor authentication (MFA)
  • Collect network data and use it analyze network intrusions
  • Avoid outdated platforms and applications

Meanwhile, the COVID-19 CTI League launched last year in response to healthcare cyberattacks during the pandemic. The group includes approximately 1,400 cybersecurity volunteers who explore ways to protect healthcare organizations against cyberattacks.

Within the MSP market, companies such as Kaseya and Compliancy Group have bet heavily on HIPAA-related compliance education and business tools for MSPs.
