Active Directory Security Funding: Semperis Raises $40M

Semperis, a company that provides Microsoft Active Directory (AD) security solutions for cloud and hybrid environments, has raised $40 million in a Series B funding round led by venture capital and private equity firm Insight Partners. The Series B financing brings Semperis' total funding to date to $54 million.

The Series B funding comes after Semperis recorded its sixth consecutive profitable quarter, according to the company. It is expected to help Semperis expand globally and add to its staff.

Venture capital and private equity firm Insight Partners has extensive experience in the data protection and IT management software sector. Key investments include Veeam for backup and disaster recovery (BDR) and Kaseya for business automation and IT management software in the MSP sector.

What Is Semperis?

Semperis offers a directory services protection platform that provides AD disaster recovery, visibility into directory services modifications and directory restores and remediation. In doing so, Semperis helps organizations minimize the impact of on-premise and cloud-based AD incidents, the company said.

Semperis also is a Google Cloud Partner Advantage Program member. Dig a little deeper, and you'll notice that Semperis helps Google Cloud customers to protect their AD infrastructure from ransomware and cyberattacks.

Moreover, organizations can use Semperis' AD Forest Recovery (ADFD) solution to back up and recover AD "forests" that contain domains, users, computers and group policies. ADFD automates forest recovery and enables organizations to recover virtual or physical servers both on-premises and in the cloud, according to Semperis.

In addition, organizations can leverage Semperis' Directory Services Protector (DSP) solution to identify and address unwanted AD changes. DSP allows organizations to isolate suspicious AD changes and roll back unwanted changes, Semperis stated.

Enzoic Launches Active Directory Password Protection Solution

Multiple companies are striving to safeguard AD from probing eyes.

For instance, Enzoic in 2019 released the Enzoic for AD password protection solution. The software monitors end-users' passwords against a database of compromised credentials, the company said. It also provides real-time blocking of unsafe AD passwords and triggers a response if an AD password becomes vulnerable.
