AlienVault, the unified security management (USM) and crowdsourced threat intelligence solutions provider, has introduced the Open Threat Exchange (OTX) Endpoint Threat Hunter service.
Endpoint Threat Hunter is a free threat-scanning service that provides OTX users with threat visibility across critical endpoints in IT environments, according to a prepared statement.
Endpoint Threat Hunter leverages over 19 million indicators of compromise (IoCs) contributed to OTX on a daily basis by a global community of 80,000 participants, the company said. It enables OTX users to run queries against threat intelligence in OTX pulses, the company noted, and scan for threats in their IT environments without using other security products.
An OTX user can launch an Endpoint Threat Hunter query on any endpoint by selecting a pre-defined query that looks for IOCs in one or more OTX pulses, the firm pointed out. Then, the AlienVault Agent OSQuery-based endpoint agent executes the query, and the results of the query display on a summary page within OTX.
Endpoint Threat Hunter is now available to all OTX users, and it can be installed on Windows, Linux hosts and endpoint devices. The company also will showcase Endpoint Threat Hunter at this week's RSA Conference in San Francisco.
AlienVault Drives Channel Growth
The Endpoint Threat Hunter release is one of several recent moves that could help AlienVault accelerate its channel growth.
AlienVault in November added its USM Anywhere threat detection platform to the Amazon Web Services (AWS) Marketplace. By doing so, the company now enables AWS customers to leverage USM Anywhere to protect on-premises physical and virtual infrastructure, business-critical cloud applications and assorted cloud environments.
Also, AlienVault in November integrated USM Anywhere with ConnectWise Manage. The USM Anywhere-ConnectWise Manage integration allows managed service providers (MSPs), MSSPs and other ConnectWise technology solution providers (TSPs) to incorporate USM Anywhere's threat detection, incident response and compliance management services into their portfolios.
How Did AlienVault Perform in 2017?
AlienVault added over 200 MSSP partners last year, and the company now has more than 500 MSSP partners that leverage its USM threat detection and incident response platform.
Furthermore, the firm currently has a global install base of over 7,000 businesses. AlienVault concluded 2017 with more than 50 percent year-over-year revenue growth, and its annual recurring revenue grew over 60 percent per year in the past two years.
