Blackpoint Cyber has secured a $190 million growth investment from Bain Capital Tech Opportunities and Accel, the company announced this week.

The investment will help Blackpoint further develop its security technology, add new products to its platform and simplify the security stack for its MSP partners, the company said in a prepared statement.

Commenting on the investment and how it will impact his company's MSP partners, Blackpoint CEO Jon Murchison said:

"The MSP market is growing fast, and we are matching that growth by scaling and innovating new cybersecurity solutions... Bain Capital Tech Opportunities and Accel bring deep experience in cybersecurity, a sophisticated understanding of the threat landscape and the resources needed to propel our next phase of growth, and we are thrilled to partner with them and continue providing our MSP partners with an elite and ever-innovative cybersecurity ecosystem."

Blackpoint Continues to Invest in MSP Security Ecosystem

The growth investment news comes after Blackpoint in May 2023 announced its Managed Application Control solution for MSPs.

Managed Application Control helps MSPs and their customers verify that only authorized applications are running on devices and minimize the risk of unauthorized activity or malware infiltration, Blackpoint said. It also lets MSPs establish custom security rules for their perimeters and their customers' and protect against risky applications.

Previously, Blackpoint in April 2023 launched the Blackpoint University learning platform for MSPs.

MSPs can access Blackpoint University sales and technical cybersecurity training and lessons from leaders in the military, intelligence and business communities, the company stated. In addition, Blackpoint University offers courses to teach MSPs about threat operations, cyber insurance and compliance.

Blackpoint Cyber: What MSPs Need to Know

Blackpoint offers continuous monitoring, real-time threat detection and active response services for MSPs, the company indicated. These services are backed by Blackpoint's managed detection and response (MDR) technology.

Meanwhile, Blackpoint provides the MSProtect partner program. MSPs can join this program to use Blackpoint's technology to deliver MDR and other security services.
