Elastic N.V., a Dutch company that provides software-as-a-service (SaaS) offerings for search, logging, security and analytics, has acquired security analytics and threat hunting training provider Perched for an undisclosed sum.

Perched is not to be confused with Perch Security, another company that offers co-managed threat detection and response (co-MDR) services.

The Perched acquisition will enable Elastic to provide training and consulting services for building cybersecurity solutions using the Elastic Stack data platform, according to the company.

A Closer Look at Perched

Perched offers education, consulting and support services to security practitioners. The Perched training tracks and modules include offerings across the following areas:

  • Analyst.
  • Engineering.
  • Operator.
  • Network operations center.

Also, Perched has Elastic experience in security information and event management (SIEM) and threat hunting, network security monitoring, network and host forensics, building threat models against adversary tactics and developing cyber operations command centers, Elastic said. Perched also has served as an Elastic partner and worked with the company's engineering team to extend the Elastic Common Schema for network and endpoint security and malware artifact data.

Elastic Acquires Endgame

The Perched acquisition comes after Elastic in June acquired Endgame, a company that specializes in endpoint detection, prevention and response, for $234 million. With Endgame, Elastic extends its ability to offer threat hunting to the endpoint, the company said.

Meanwhile, Elastic reported $80.6 million in total revenue in the fourth quarter of 2019, which represented a 63 percent year-over-year increase. It also looks poised to accelerate its cybersecurity market growth following its Endgame and Perched acquisitions.
