10. New Cylance CFO... And IPO?: Cylance has hired AlienVault veteran Brian Robins as CFO. Earlier, he held key financial positions at CSC and Verisign. Cylance also pulled back the curtain a bit on its growth. In its most recent fiscal year, the cybersecurity company's overall revenue surged 283 percent, bookings rose 119 percent, and more than 5 million endpoints were sold. Cylance raised $100 million in a Series D round last year, and plenty of folks are wondering if/when an IPO will arrive. We'll share more thoughts soon.

9. Password Security Monitoring: AlienVault AlienApp for Dark Web Monitoring, powered by technology from SpyCloud, allows service providers to identify when customers’ credentials have been compromised. Indeed, the AlienApp for Dark Web Monitoring provides monitoring for all e-mail addresses related to a domain, along with monitoring for up to 10 individual email addresses, such as those of executives and other high-risk targets in your organization.

8. Endpoint Security: Absolute 7, a new endpoint security upgrade, features so-called "Reach" functionality, which enterprises to "reach an entire endpoint population and take immediate custom actions in just a few clicks." Absolute calls Reach a "near real-time capability" that allows IT managers to regain control of  endpoints that have gone rogue or otherwise become invisible to IT.

7. Shadow Brokers Revenues: The Shadow Brokers hacker group between June and early August made roughly $88,000 in an alternative cryptocurrency called Monero, according to the Wh1sks blog. As you may recall, the Shadow Brokers launched a monthly dump service -- essentially setting the stage for hacker tools and exploits as a service -- in July.

6. Nationwide Insurance Fined: Nationwide has agreed to pay a $5.5 million fine to resolve allegations that the company failed to properly patch its systems in October 2012. That lapse led to a security breach involving 1.27 million consumers, App reported.

5. UK Cyber Conference: The Enterprise Cyber Conference (ECS) UK conference is set for September 28 in London. Visit the MSSP Alert Cybersecurity Conference Calendar for details about that event and others in the days and weeks ahead. Or, submit your conference for us to potentially list on the calendar.

3. SOC Investments: Enterprises are expanding their security operations center (SOC) investments, according to recent Forrester Research findings. Many security executives (60 percent) are working on expanding or upgrading their current SOC deployment, Forrester says. Um... we wonder how many of those enterprises are wisely working with third-party MSSPs and SOCs...

2. New MSSP Services: Continent 8 Technologies has embraced Radware, gaining real-time DDoS attack mitigation for data centers, DefenseSSL protection, and MSSP portal access. The engagement allows Continent 8 to"fend off encrypted attacks and offer DDoS attack mitigation services to its clients," the companies say.
