Managed Security Services Provider Morning Update: 01 September 2017

Each morning MSSP Alert broadcasts a quick lineup of news, analysis and chatter from across the global managed security services provider, SOC (security operations center) and IT outsourcing ecosystem.

Here’s the lineup for Friday, September 1, 2017:

5. Security Training: Amid the cybersecurity talent shortfall, Kudelski has expanded its cybersecurity training services across North America...

4. Cybersecurity in New York: The New York Department of Financial Services  has reminded financial institutions that the first compliance date of New York’s cybersecurity regulation was on Aug. 28, HousingWire notes. That regulation is expected to cause some potential compliance headaches for New York's financial services sector.

3. M&A: Qualys has completed the purchase of certain assets of Nevis Networks. This transaction provides Qualys with expertise in passive scanning technologies. The deal allows Qualys to "accelerate its move into the adjacent market of mitigation and response at endpoints," the company says.

2. Oracle Application Security: Are Oracle E-Business Suite applications secure? Ponemon Institute's customer survey, sponsored by Onapsis, offers some perspectives but doesn't quite get to the root question about Oracle's security efforts.

1. MSSP Honor: MKACyber, a fast-growing managed security operations security provider, landed on the Techweek 100 list for Washington D.C. The list tracks promising startups in the area.
