6. IBM Security: IBM yesterday confirmed that its quarterly revenues fell yet again. Perhaps most troubling, the company's "strategic imperative" revenues -- which involve fast-growth opportunities -- aren't growing all that fast. For instance, revenue from security rose only 4 percent in Q2 2017 vs. Q2 2016, the company says...

5. Security Information and Event Management: RSA Security, part of Dell Technologies, has unveiled an upgraded NetWitness Suite. The SIEM platform that helps analysts to accelerate threat detection and response across on-premises, cloud, mobile and social systems, the company claims. The upgrade will be available sometime in the second half of 2017.

4. Funding: Corelight, which develops a cybersecurity network visibility solution, has raised $9.2 million in Series A funding. The company's first product is a network data recorder that allows users to more effectively analyze cyberattacks.  Early integrations include Splunk, Amazon Simple Storage Service and Kafka, the company says.

3. Partnership, Part 1: CrowdStrike (cloud-delivered endpoint protection) and Dragos (Industrial control system cybersecurity) have inked a go-to-market partnership targeting ICS customers.

2. Partnership, Part 2: Booz Allen Hamilton is beta testing Cyber4Sight for Splunk. The platform combines cyber insights and security intelligence from Booz Allen’s threat intelligence solutions with analytics-driven security insights from Splunk Enterprise Security (Splunk ES). The two companies will demo the solution at Black Hat 2017 next week in Las Vegas.

1. Ransomware Testing: Netsurion and EventTracker have unveiled a free point of sale (POS) Ransomware Risk Self-Assessment tool. We'll share more details soon.
