Mandiant's incident response (IR) and proactive consulting teams will leverage CrowdStrike software for joint security customers, the two companies disclosed today. Next up, Mandiant Managed Defense services will extend to support CrowdStrike customers later sometime in 2022, the companies added.
The Mandiant-CrowdStrike developments surface roughly one month after Google Cloud in April 2022 disclosed plans to acquire Mandiant for $5.4 billion. Ironically, Google's venture capital arm was an early investor in CrowdStrike as well as endpoint security rival Cybereason. Google Cloud also has various integrations with CrowdStrike.
Meanwhile, Mandiant's work with CrowdStrike reflects a Mandiant market shift that began around November 2021. At that time, the company separated from the FireEye products business. As a result, Mandiant had more flexibility to partner with a range of security software companies -- rather than betting its business on FireEye's product code.
Mandiant, Google Cloud and CrowdStrike: MSSP Partner Programs
Looking ahead, Mandiant and its next owner (Google Cloud) along with CrowdStrike each have been opening their arms to MSSPs. Among the proof points:
- Mandiant CEO Kevin Mandia unveiled a five-point plan to drive partner-oriented sales in November 2021 -- though that plan surfaced before Google Cloud announced plans to acquire the security company.
- Google Cloud announced a formalized Chronicle MSSP partner program in April 2022. Rumors about the MSSP partner strategy surfaced around the time that Google acquired Siemplify in January 2022.
- CrowdStrike revealed growing MSSP partner momentum in December 2021. An Identity Threat Protection update in March 2022 did not mention partner opportunities. But a Cybersixgill investment that same month emphasized multi-tenant threat intelligence for MSSPs.
Mandiant mWISE, Google Cloud Next 2022 Conferences
So what's next? Keep an eye on the Mandiant mWISE 2022 cybersecurity conference -- which is set for October. Also, the Google Cloud Next 2022 conference is set for that same month. It's a safe bet more ISV partnerships and MSSP strategies will surface at each event.
