McAfee Intros Cloud Security for Amazon AWS Relational Database Service

Share

McAfee has announced McAfee Database Security for Amazon Relational Database Service (Amazon RDS), a cloud-based offering that provides real-time visibility into Amazon Web Services (AWS) database activity. It also monitors on-premises databases and enables users to identify and stop cyberattacks.

Locking down cloud and on-premises databases is a growing focus for some MSPs and MSSPs -- many of which are introducing managed database as a service capabilities.

The McAfee Database Security Suite provides real-time database protection, management and compliance, the company said. It includes the following security products:

  • McAfee Database Activity Monitoring: Monitors database server activity and identifies and addresses malicious activities in real time across virtualized and cloud environments.
  • McAfee Virtual Patching: Detects missing security patches and applies appropriate fixes, as well as repairs misconfigurations discovered via vulnerability scans.
  • McAfee Vulnerability Manager for Databases: Automates data classification and identification of systems for audits, identifies security gaps and addresses database vulnerabilities.

In addition, McAfee Database Security products are integrated with the McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator management console to provide centralized visibility, the company indicated. We're checking to see whether the offering is multi-tenant for MSPs and MSSPs.

Global Database Security Market Expected to Grow

McAfee looks poised to capitalize on a global database security market that is projected to grow.

Global database security market revenues are projected to increase at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 18.9 percent between 2017 and 2022, according to industry analyst Markets and Markets. These revenues also could total approximately $7 billion by 2022.
