McAfee has extended its Cloud Security Platform to Microsoft Azure, helping customers to safeguard applications and data across IaaS, PaaS and SaaS services.
In addition, Cloud Security Platform now includes McAfee Skyhigh Security Cloud, McAfee Virtual Network Security Platform (vNSP) and McAfee Cloud Workload Security (CWS). These platform enhancements come after McAfee acquired cloud access security broker (CASB) Skyhigh Networks in November 2017.
What Does Cloud Security Platform for Azure Offer?
Key features of Cloud Security Platform for Azure, according to McAfee, include the ability to:
- Audit security configuration settings of Azure against best practices to help organizations identify security and compliance gaps and determine the best ways to reduce security risks.
- Capture a complete audit trail of user and administrator activity to accelerate post-incident forensic investigations and monitor the spread of advanced threats.
- Consume data science and machine learning tools to help organizations detect insider threats and compromised accounts.
- Remove malware from traffic going to, from and within an Azure infrastructure.
- Identify and prevent unauthorized sensitive data from being stored in Azure storage services.
McAfee Skyhigh Security Cloud for Azure and McAfee CWS that includes support for Azure are now available. Also, McAfee vNSP support for Azure will be available by the end of the month.
McAfee Partner, Business Evolution
McAfee's customer base now exceeds 400 million, and the company last month partnered with several industry leaders to ensure security is built-in across a wide range of devices and networks.
The McAfee partnerships included:
- Samsung: McAfee and Samsung are working together to safeguard Galaxy S9 smartphones, the Galaxy Note8 and Samsung smart TVs, PCs and notebooks.
- Telefónica: McAfee partnered with Spanish telecommunications company Telefónica to protect Telefónica home devices based on internet access routers.
- Strategic Türk Telekom: McAfee unveiled Türk Telekom Total Protection, a solution that protects Türk Telekom mobile and broadband customers against cyber threats. Total Protection is expected to be available this month.
- NTT DoCoMo: McAfee extended its partnership with Japanese mobile phone operator NTT DoCoMo and added a Wi-Fi security function to the company's Anshin Security app.
McAfee has been seeking to build momentum since Intel sold its majority interest in the company last year. The company has some targeted layoffs in mid-2017. The company has been under pressure from next-generation endpoint security providers, and ongoing shifts in the cloud and mobile worlds. However, organizations continue use McAfee solutions to protect 462 million endpoints worldwide.
