Microsoft Partner Portal Exposes Some Help Desk Ticket Information

Share

Microsoft's partner portal last week suffered a limited data exposure that allowed partners to view support tickets submitted from all over the world, according to The Register.

On the one hand, no detailed customer data base exposed. But on the other hand, some partners could see case numbers and titles from every support request worldwide, according to the report.

The issue impacted a small subset of functions in Microsoft's partner portal, a spokesperson for the software giant said at time. It sounds like the issue has since been addressed.

IT help desk security is a front-of-mind issue for many MSPs and IT services providers. Indeed, many of the systems used by MSPs are prime targets for hackers. Amid that reality, Chinese hackers have been targeting MSPs to ultimately hit end-customer networks worldwide, the FBI recently reported.
