1. Free Ransomware Data Offer: Cyberint has released Ransomania, a free web application providing access to a complete repository of ransomware data gathered by the Cyberint Research Team. Ransomania empowers organizations to combat ransomware with unprecedented efficiency and collaboration, with the tool making data easily accessible and understandable to business professionals and cybersecurity experts alike, the company said.
2. Leadership Move: Sophos, a company focused on delivering cybersecurity as a service, announced that Kris Hagerman has stepped down as its CEO and will serve as an advisor to the company until April 1, 2024. Effective immediately, Joe Levy is the president and acting CEO of Sophos.
3. App Security Launch: Appdome, a specialist in mobile app defense, has unveiled its new Geo Compliance feature set, allowing mobile brands to trust the user's location and detect location spoofing, fake GPS apps, VPN use, SIM swaps and other methods used to circumvent geo restrictions in mobile applications. Mobile brands can combine Appdome's new, no-code, no-SDK Geo Compliance features with any other mobile app defense features on its unified mobile app defense platform, the company said.
4. Cloud Security Release: LightEdge, a provider of secure cloud and colocation, has unveiled the next generation of its cloud security and managed services, including restructured backup-as-a-service (BaaS) and LightEdge Cloud Recovery (DRaaS) solutions, as well as a new endpoint detection and response (EDR) offering. With new options for comprehensive threat monitoring and alerts, the updated LightEdge Cloud suite offers tailored business continuity services managed by LightEdge's team of cloud engineers, the company said.
5. Defending U.S. Defense Data: Anaqua, a provider of intellectual property management technology, has launched AnaquaGov, providing U.S. defense contractors and all other clients handling U.S. CUI (Controlled Unclassified Information) with a specialized environment to manage their highly sensitive IP data. In making the announcement, Anaqua confirmed that the AnaquaGov fully meets NIST SP 800-171 compliance requirements — the strict standards set by the U.S. National Institute of Standards and Technology for safeguarding sensitive information on federal contractors' IT systems and networks.
6. Leadership Move: Aryaka, a specialist in unified secure access service edge (SASE) solutions, has appointed Shailesh Shukla as CEO and chairman. Shukla had earlier joined Aryaka as an independent board member and has served as Aryaka's executive chairman of the board since September 2023. He joins Aryaka after helping build the multi-billion-dollar networking and security business at Google Cloud and has built growth businesses and teams for both entrepreneurial startups, including Instart Logic and Redback Networks, the company said.
7. Cybersecurity Summit Slated: Sherweb, a Quebec, Canada-based distributor of global IT solutions, is partnering with Devolutions, a remote access and password specialist, to present the third edition of ITSec. The French language IT security summit will be held May 22-23 in Saint-Hyacinthe and will bring together IT professionals and managed service providers (MSPs) for presentations, workshops and networking activities.
8. Virtual Security Summit: Trellix, an extended detection and response (XDR) specialist, will host its AI and Cybersecurity Virtual Summit, The New Frontier in Cybersecurity: AI’s Risk and Opportunity, sponsored by Amazon Web Services (AWS), February 28-29. Summit attendees will learn how to defend against cybercriminals using AI, why AI chatbots pose a risk, how to protect against data leakage, and how to utilize the power of AI to accelerate response time, increase SOC efficiency, and reduce time to investigate.
