NTT Communications Adds Auto-Mitigation for DDoS Protection Services

Share

Japanese telecommunications company NTT Communications has unveiled Distributed Denial-of-Service (DDoS) Protection Services (DPS) Max, a cybersecurity solution that offers cyberattack detection and auto-mitigation capabilities.

DPS Max enables NTT's Global IP Network customers to identify cyberattacks and automatically initiate mitigations based on customer-defined thresholds, according to the company. It automatically stops mitigation after a cyberattack ends and returns customer traffic to its normal, pre-attack routing.

Furthermore, DPS Max subscribers have access to NTT's Network Security Team, the company stated. They also can use NTT's DPS Portal to review past cyberattack mitigation reports and request configuration changes.

What Does DPS Max Mean for NTT?

The DPS Max release could help NTT bolster its reach in a rapidly expanding global DDoS protection and mitigation market.

Global DDoS protection and mitigation market revenues are projected to increase at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 16 percent between 2017 and 2023, industry analyst Research and Markets stated. Also, these market revenues could total $4 billion by 2023.

What Is DPS?

DPS is a product suite that provides Global IP Network customers with DDoS mitigation capabilities and capacity to combat volumetric and application layer cyberattacks, NTT indicated. In addition to DPS Max, DPS includes the following DDoS mitigation solutions:

  • DPS Control: Offers an entry-level tier of service intended for organizations that do not require full DDoS mitigation assistance.
  • DPS Core: Provides an advanced tier of service for organizations that require full DDoS mitigation support.
  • DPS Detect: Delivers cyberattack detection capabilities and customer-initiated mitigations from the DPS Portal.

Global IP Network customers can select their DPS tier of support based on their cybersecurity strategies and initiatives, NTT noted. That way, they can minimize the risk of DDoS attacks that otherwise damage network infrastructure and degrade website or system performance.

NTT Partners with Seceon

NTT has a range of business units, including the Top 100 MSSP business called NTT Security.

The DPS Max announcement comes after NTT in October integrated the Seceon Open Threat Management (OTM) platform into its information and communications technology (ICT) solution. Now, NTT offers a Seceon-based artificial intelligence-security operations center (AI-SOC) service.

NTT's AI-SOC service helps organizations detect cyber threats and data breaches in real-time, the company stated. It allows organizations to analyze hosts, network devices, applications and user behavior and leverage advanced analytics to quickly respond to cyberattacks.
