Okta, an identity and access management (IAM) and single sign-on (SSO) solutions provider, has purchased secure remote access firm ScaleFT for an undisclosed sum. The company plans to integrate ScaleFT's Zero Trust security platform into the Okta Identity Cloud, according to a prepared statement.

The Okta Identity Cloud and Zero Trust platform together will enable organizations to validate end users, devices, applications and networks and grant secure access to data, the companies said. Also, Okta and ScaleFT will provide organizations with continuous authentication capabilities to safeguard server access across cloud and on-premise environments.

A Closer Look at the Okta Identity Cloud and Zero Trust Platform

The Okta Identity Cloud is a cloud-based, multi-tenant solution used by more than 4,700 organizations worldwide. In addition, the Okta Identity Cloud includes the following security products:

  • Adaptive Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA): Enables an organization to use MFA to secure apps and virtual private networks (VPNs).
  • Lifecycle Management: Automates user onboarding and offboarding.
  • SSO: Offers users a single set of credentials to access apps in the cloud, on-premise and on mobile devices.
  • Universal Directory: Allows an organization to deploy a cloud-based user store to customize, organize and manage user attributes.

The Zero Trust platform unifies access controls across users and resources, according to ScaleFT. It shifts access controls from the network perimeter to the application layer and empowers organizations with real-time server and web access authorization.

Furthermore, the Zero Trust platform provides secure remote access without a VPN, ScaleFT indicated. The platform also allows organizations to build secure micro-perimeters, limit the risks associated with excessive user privileges and access and use analytics and automation to improve security detection and response.
