Rackspace is offering a new managed service offering for the public cloud called Modern Operations that supports customers across Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud Platform (GCP) with an array of services under a single model.
According to Rackspace, irrespective of a customer’s cloud maturity Modern Operations provides operational and system administration support with a managed offering designed to provide a broad range of support services for end-to-end lifecycle management of customer's cloud environments.
What Modern Operations Does
Modern Operations benefits include:
- 24x7x365 managed support. Focus your internal resources on core business activities and accelerate your cloud journey with the peace of mind that comes with a managed environment.
- Cloud expertise. Gain the benefits of the public cloud without incurring the challenge and expense of self-managing it.
- Cloud resiliency. Leverage cloud native and proprietary Rackspace Technology tooling to reduce manual intervention and increase resiliency.
- Innovate with cloud services. Take advantage of the latest cloud features and capabilities to solve challenging business problems.
“The move to the cloud has created massive benefits for our customers and their business strategies as they have scaled and innovated at an ever-increasing pace. This innovation and transformation have come at a cost due to ever-increasing complexity in cloud environments,” said Mike Lindbert, Rackspace product senior director. “Our Modern Operations will help our customers manage complex cloud environments and accelerate their journey to cloud while providing the freedom to innovate and transform to achieve core business objectives.”
Rackspace Leadership Moves
Separately, Rackspace has named industry veteran Brian Lillie as president of its private cloud business. Lillie, whose appointment marks the close of the company’s realignment into two business units, will officially take the reins of the private cloud division on January 23. Late last year, Rackspace tapped D.K. Sinha to lead its public cloud business unit.
Lillie most recently served as Zayo Group, where he served as chief product and technology officer. He is credited with creating and leading the company’s product, network and software technology strategy and road map. Prior to Zayo, Lillie served more than a decade in several C-level roles at Equinix, including chief information officer, chief customer officer and chief product officer.
Lillie, who currently serves on the board of directors for Lumentum and Storj Labs, expressed his enthusiasm for joining Rackspace:
"I am thrilled to be joining Rackspace and working alongside Amar and the executive leadership team to enhance the company's private cloud strategy and further develop their innovative multi-cloud product and solutions roadmap to drive growth. Rackspace Technology's customer first, cloud first approach, combined with an exceptionally dedicated and talented team of Rackers, make it a powerful force for unlocking the company's growth potential."
