Sailpoint Acquires SaaS Application Management, Security Startup Intello

Identity security company SailPoint Technologies is acquiring Intello, an early-stage SaaS management company that helps organizations to discover, manage, and secure SaaS applications. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

This is M&A deal number 129 that MSSP Alert and sister site ChannelE2E have covered so far in 2021. See all technology M&A deals for 2021 and 2020 listed here.

Intello, based in New York, raised $2.5 million in seed funding in 2019. Early investors included Resolute Ventures. Harrison Metal and Magnetico Ventures.

The Sailpoint-Intello deal involves a hot-growth market where multiple startups are seeking to engage MSPs and end-customers. Rival SaaS management and/or monitoring platform providers to know included:

Sailpoint Acquires Intello: SaaS Application Security Focus

Armed with Intello, SailPoint’s Identity Platform will give IT teams a process from discovery to governance, "ensuring every newly-discovered SaaS app (and data within) is protected with the right identity security controls." the buyer says.

In a prepared statement about the deal, Grady Summers, EVP product, SailPoint, said:

“...We want to make it incredibly easy for customers to get their arms around the risk of SaaS app sprawl. Discovery combined with visibility are the name of the game here, and we’ll be able to deliver that to our customers with Intello. With our deep identity security knowledge and expertise combined with Intello’s expertise in SaaS app management, we believe this acquisition will allow SailPoint to fully secure and support this future world of work – enabling secure SaaS adoption at scale with identity security.”

SailPoint did not mention whether Intello is multi-tenant for MSP and MSSP use.

SailPoint: Cloud and MSP Relationships

SailPoint, meanwhile, does have existing MSP relationships. For instance, Rackspace joined the SailPoint cloud hosting partner program in 2018. The relationship enables organizations to deploy SailPoint’s IdentityIQ identity management software or SecurityIQ data security platform in Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Microsoft Azure environments, Rackspace and SailPoint said at the time.
