SentinelOne Acquiring Orca Security? Perhaps Not: Report

Credit: SentinelOne

SentinelOne was set to acquire Orca Security for $2.5 billion, but the proposed cybersecurity acquisition fell apart when SentinelOne's stock plummeted in recent weeks, according to Calcalist.

Orca Security has raised multiple rounds of funding and launched a partner program for MSPs in August 2021. The company's valuation was $1.8 billion as of October 2021.

It's unclear just how close SentinelOne actually was to buying Orca Security. Rather than M&A, discussions between the two cybersecurity software companies may have involved partnership talk, and Orca is focused on pursuing an IPO (initial public offering), the Calcalist report noted.

SentinelOne Seeking Security Acquisitions, Building MSSP Partnerships

SentinelOne emphasized a commitment to acquisitions during the company's quarterly earnings call on December 7, 2021. The effort includes hiring Cisco Systems veteran Rob Salvagno to lead corporate development, according to SentinelOne Chief Operating Officer Nick Warner.

Moreover, SentinelOne has been very active in the MSP and MSSP partner ecosystems.

MSSP Alert has not independently confirmed the alleged M&A discussions between SentinelOne and Orca Security.
