Thales has brought to market the CipherTrust Data Security Platform, which is now available via a cloud-based subscription-as-a-service model, according to the company.

Organizations can use CipherTrust to discover, protect and control their data across their on-premises and cloud environments, Thales noted.

How Thales' CipherTrust Data Security Platform as a Service Works

CipherTrust helps organizations simplify their data security operations, Thales noted. The platform utilizes data security and lifecycle management tools to help organizations protect against external cyber threats and other security risks.

It also provides users with access to a partner ecosystem for integrations with security vendors. enterprise storage, servers, databases, applications and clouds.

Meanwhile, CipherTrust Data Security Platform as a Service provides several key management deployment options, including:

  • Virtual machines (VMs)
  • Physical appliances
  • Hybrid clusters

CipherTrust Data Security Platform as a Service is backed by a Thales Luna Cloud FIPS 140-2 Level 3 hardware security module (HSM), the company said. The module eliminates the need for organizations to invest in data security infrastructure, since it automatically adapts to changes in capacity. By doing so, the module ensures that organizations can maintain high availability and resiliency to meet SLAs.

Todd Moore, Thales' vice president of Data security Products, shared his thoughts on CipherTrust Data Security Platform as a Service and how it helps organizations reap the benefits of encryption and key management:

"We have introduced the new cloud-based delivery model for CipherTrust Data Security Platform services to meet the growing demand for business agility and interest in consuming our solutions as a service. In this way, we can simplify the implementation of encryption and key management by reducing the cost of ownership, reducing the time to implementation and helping companies with limitations to address the growing shortage of qualified security personnel."

Organizations can subscribe to CipherTrust Data Security Platform as a Service through the Thales Data Protection on Demand Marketplace. The service is currently hosted in data centers in Europe and North America, with other data security services and regions to follow, Thales indicated.

Thales Eyes Generative AI for Data Security

The CipherTrust Data Security Platform as a Service launch comes after Thales in June 2023 announced a partnership with Google Cloud to develop new data security capabilities powered by generative AI.

With the partnership, Thales will use AI to enhance its CipherTrust Data Security Platform's ability to discover, classify and protect data in the cloud, the company said. This will help organizations eliminate security gaps and comply with data security mandates.

In addition, Thales has incorporated a machine learning feature powered by Google Cloud's Vertex AI into its Intelligent Protection service. This feature lets users classify their data into various categories and subcategories and utilize "named entity recognition" to explore different types of information, Thales said. It also uses semantic context to discover and classify information from corporate document repositories.

Thales offers technologies across defense and security, aeronautics and space and digital identity and security. The company offers the Accelerate Partner Network, which MSPs and other technology providers can join to integrate Thales' technologies into their portfolios.
