Bitdefender is making its preemptive security technology, GravityZone PHASR, available as a standalone solution. Until now, PHASR was built into Bitdefender’s GravityZone platform. With this move, any organization, regardless of its existing EPP or EDR setup, can add PHASR’s preemptive protection to its environment without overhauling existing systems.PHASR works by observing how users, devices, and applications normally behave, then automatically restricting actions that fall outside that baseline. It limits exposure from over-privileged accounts, unpatched vulnerabilities, and misuse of trusted tools like PowerShell or PsExec - tactics often used in ransomware and “living-off-the-land” attacks. The goal is to stop threats before they ever need to trigger an alert or reach detection systems. For security teams already stretched thin, PHASR adds a way to reduce noise without adding new complexity. It correlates user behavior with live threat intelligence to fine-tune protections in real time, cutting down on false positives and alert fatigue. The result is a smaller attack surface and a more predictable response posture, even when running alongside tools from other vendors. This release reflects a larger industry shift toward preemptive defense. Traditional, reactive detection can’t keep up with attackers who adapt faster than rule-based systems can respond. Tools like PHASR fit into a growing class of solutions focused on proactive hardening and attack surface reduction, helping organizations neutralize potential attack paths before they can be exploited.
