CyberMaxx acquires Avertium to expand managed security services

CyberMaxx has acquired Avertium, significantly expanding its managed security services portfolio with new capabilities in Microsoft security, offensive security, and governance, risk, and compliance (GRC). This strategic move aims to bolster CyberMaxx's offerings for the midmarket sector, as reported in Channeldive.

The acquisition allows CyberMaxx to bring GRC services in-house, which were previously outsourced to partners. Avertium's expertise in Microsoft security, particularly in Managed Detection and Response (MDR) for Microsoft environments, addresses a key demand from midmarket clients. CyberMaxx VP of Marketing and Alliances John Pinkham highlighted Avertium's leadership in Microsoft MDR. The deal also enhances CyberMaxx's offensive security capabilities, including penetration testing and purple team exercises.

Furthermore, Avertium's team will now provide direct compliance support for regulations like CMMC and HIPAA, services CyberMaxx previously referred out. Both companies share complementary channel strategies, working with technology services distributors and technology advisors, with no overlap in their current TSD partners. This acquisition is part of CyberMaxx's broader strategy to act as a consolidator in the growing MSSP market, supported by recent private equity investment and credit facilities.
