Fusion Cyber adds financial guarantee to managed security plans

Fusion Cyber Group has introduced a cybersecurity guarantee that covers incident response and recovery work for eligible managed security customers. The Montreal-based MSSP said it will absorb the cost of containment, remediation, threat eradication, and business recovery when a covered breach occurs after its required security controls have been deployed and maintained.

The guarantee is available through selected managed cybersecurity plans and requires customers to use Fusion’s prescribed security stack. That stack may include 24/7 SOC monitoring, MDR, endpoint security, vulnerability management, email and DNS protection, backups, security awareness training, and zero-trust controls. Coverage limits, exclusions, and other eligibility requirements apply, although the company did not disclose the financial cap or claims process in its announcement.

The model addresses a recurring issue in managed security contracts: customers often pay for ongoing protection and then face additional incident response costs after a breach. Fusion is tying part of its financial exposure to the performance of the services it manages, while requiring customers to follow its security recommendations and maintain the agreed controls. The structure could also give the provider greater influence over technology selection, configuration, and ongoing risk management.

For Fusion, the guarantee gives customers a clearer sense of what the provider will take responsibility for when a breach occurs. For the wider MSSP market, it adds another test of how far providers are willing to tie fees and service commitments to customer outcomes. The real value will come down to the contract details, especially the coverage limits, exclusions, and process for deciding whether a client met its security obligations.
