Spectra is expanding its role to act as a third-party validator of security practices for managed service providers (MSPs). The company aims to help MSPs differentiate themselves, improve their insurance coverage, and secure new business through a robust certification program, based on information from CRN.

Spectra's certification process goes beyond a simple pass-fail, employing a four-tier maturity model that rigorously examines an MSP's internal security posture, the security solutions they offer to clients, and the actual deployment of those solutions. This validation addresses a critical gap in the market where customers often lack visibility into their IT providers' security practices.

Certified MSPs can benefit from enhanced insurance coverage and potentially lower premiums. Spectra is also developing an AI-focused certification to guide MSPs in securely deploying AI for small and medium-sized businesses.
