Intel and Atsign partner to boost edge AI security and performance

A partnership between Intel and Atsign aims to address critical security risks and performance bottlenecks in edge AI deployments, based on information from SDx Central. The collaboration integrates Atsign's zero-exposure security platform with Intel's hardware-backed encryption technologies to enhance the capabilities of AI agents operating at the edge.

The joint effort reportedly achieved an 8700% improvement in end-to-end encrypted communications using the Agent2Agent (A2A) standard, leveraging Intel hardware for accelerated cryptographic operations. This addresses key security concerns in distributed AI environments, such as exposed keys, untrusted devices, and data tampering, while also mitigating performance slowdowns. Atsign contributed identity management, namespace isolation, and end-to-end encryption, while Intel provided hardware-based secure key storage, trusted compute, and memory/disk encryption.

The companies highlighted potential ramifications for autonomous vehicles and smart city applications, citing significant performance uplifts on Intel Xeon and Core Ultra processors. Atsign's CEO stated the partnership provides a secure foundation for edge AI in smart transportation, where trust and speed are paramount. Atsign has also joined Intel's Industrial Builders partner program.
