Lumen launches on-demand enterprise internet service for AI workloads

Lumen Technologies has introduced a new consumption-based model for enterprise connectivity, allowing businesses to dynamically scale bandwidth in response to AI, cloud computing, and evolving business demands. This new offering, named Lumen Intelligent Internet, aims to provide the flexibility and control that traditional fixed-capacity internet services lack, according to a recent report by CRN.

Lumen Intelligent Internet allows customers to adjust their internet bandwidth on demand, a significant departure from traditional services that offer fixed capacity. This flexibility is particularly beneficial for AI workloads, which are characterized by sporadic and fluctuating demands. The service enables businesses to scale their connectivity up or down in minutes, providing greater control over their network resources.

This offering is also designed to serve as an entry point to the broader Lumen Connected Ecosystem, which includes Network-As-A-Service (NaaS) solutions. Lumen Intelligent Internet can reach 10 million U.S. business locations and supports speeds up to 100 gigabits per second. Early adopters include the New York Yankees. Customers can provision and adjust connectivity through Lumen Connect or APIs, with options for term-based pricing and flexible capacity adjustments.
