Promptfoo Raises $18.4M to Help Secure AI Deployments

Promptfoo has raised $18.4 million in Series A funding to scale its AI security platform, according to SecurityWeek. The round, led by Insight Partners with participation from Andreessen Horowitz, brings the company’s total funding to $23.4 million. The startup is focused on helping organizations address security risks in large language models and generative AI apps - risks like prompt injections, jailbreaks, and sensitive data exposure.

Its platform integrates security testing directly into the development pipeline. It generates tailored attacks that mimic real-world threats and offers fixes that security teams can plug into existing vulnerability workflows. The goal is to make LLM security part of a company’s standard DevSecOps routine, not an afterthought.

The company says its tools are already in use across finance, retail, and telecom. Adoption spans both enterprise teams and the open source community, including developers at nearly 30 Fortune 500 companies. The product appears to be gaining traction with teams deploying agent-based systems and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) architectures.

With this new funding, Promptfoo plans to expand its team and accelerate product development. As more businesses move from AI experiments to production rollouts, tools that help them build safely and responsibly are moving from nice-to-have to required infrastructure.
