Sumo Logic boosts data pipelines to manage telemetry before ingestion

Sumo Logic Inc. has unveiled an expanded Data Pipelines service that allows customers to manage and reroute telemetry data before it is ingested and stored. This new capability aims to address the escalating costs and complexities associated with collecting vast amounts of data, particularly with the rise of AI workloads, as first reported by Silicon Angle.

The enhanced service integrates controls directly into the Sumo Logic platform, enabling security and operations teams to refine data streams prior to ingestion. This addresses the challenge of rapidly increasing telemetry volumes, which can make full data ingestion prohibitively expensive. The platform introduces a live preview feature to test data routing rules and an AI-assisted rule-writing tool designed to reduce manual effort.

Anomalies and format shifts in incoming data are flagged in real-time, with recommendations for transformation or exclusion requiring user approval. Sumo Logic highlighted that this upstream data management allows organizations to define the purpose of their data before incurring storage costs. Future updates will include a visual, AI-assisted telemetry shaping tool and a platform-neutral version for data directed to third-party tools.
