New products, services and partnerships designed for MSSPs and channel partners are surfacing at this week's Black Hat USA 2018 conference in Las Vegas. Here are Day Two conference highlights involving cloud, artificial intelligence, endpoint security, vulnerability management and more.
1. AI And Hacking: Even as Artificial Intelligence potentially boosts cybersecurity, hackers can use AI technology to take attacks to a new level, researchers at the Black Hat conference revealed.
2. Partnership - Vulnerability Management Services: IBM will leverage the Qualys Cloud Platform as part of its X-Force Red Vulnerability Management Services (VMS).
3. Partnership - Threat Detection: Netskope's cloud security platform now leverages Cylance's AI-driven threat detection technology.
4. Partnership - Threat Intelligence: IBM Security and Fortinet have agreed to collaborate through the bi-directional sharing of cyber threat information. The goal is to proactively combat cyber threats and threats to privacy globally through the sharing of contextual threat information generated by the Fortinet FortiGuard Labs threat research team and IBM Security’s X-Force research team, the two companies say.
5. Fortinet Security Services Portfolio: Details about key enhancements surfaced in this blog. The effort includes two key enhancements: First, the company is integrating its Antivirus and FortiSandbox Cloud solutions into a single Advanced Malware Protection service to protect organizations against both known and unknown threats. Second, the company is enhancing its Enterprise Services Bundle. The bundle now includes protection for over one thousand different ICS/SCADA protocols to help organizations with the difficult task of securing their IT/OT convergence efforts, Fortinet says.
6. Threat Analysis & Risk Mitigation: Optiv Security, a Top 100 MSSP, has unveiled EnemyPerspectives@Optiv, an integrated suite of services that allows customers to evaluate its digital footprint from the perspective of a potential threat actor and then take prioritized steps to remediate weaknesses.
7. Platform Expansion: Qualys has introduced Passive Network Sensor (PNS) to its cloud platform. PNS natively integrates network analysis functions into the Qualys Cloud Platform, delivering customers IT visibility, while reducing cost and complexity, the company says.
8. AT&T and AlienVault: Amid AT&T's recent buyout of AlienVault, many Black Hat attendees are wondering if AT&T will maintain AlienVault's commitment to SMB partners and customers. Anecdotal evidence suggests that the answer is absolutely yes -- especially since AT&T emphasized small business messaging in the AlienVault acquisition announcement. The deal is expected to be finalized by the end of Q3. We'll be watching for potential partner program updates...
