McAfee Partner InfoReliance Wins $182 Million Managed Security Army Contract

InfoReliance, a McAfee partner that provides commercial and public sector technology solutions, has won a five-year, $182 million managed cybersecurity services contract by the U.S. Army, according to a prepared statement. The contract will be managed by both security companies.

With the agreement, the two security companies can minimize the Army's attack surface, increase its endpoint protection and automate its cybersecurity reporting, InfoReliance noted.

InfoReliance and McAfee together will deploy and operate the Army Endpoint Security System (AESS) and provide support via a fully managed platform-as-a-service (PaaS) model, InfoReliance said.

Meanwhile, InfoReliance will implement host-based security and analytics technologies across the Army's global infrastructure and approximately 1.4 million endpoints, the company stated.

InfoReliance also will provide the Army with a managed threat detection and response solution that leverages the McAfee's Threat Intelligence Exchange (TIE) collaboration system and Data Exchange Layer (DXL) communication fabric to combine threat information sources and share threat data, according to the business. The solution will be implemented across all required Army infrastructure, InfoReliance said, and hosted at Army-provided data centers.

In addition to the Army pact, InfoReliance in February won a three-year, $16 million indefinite deliver/indefinite quantity contract from the U.S. Marine Corps (USMC).

The USMC agreement emphasizes the continued development of the Marine Corps Training Information Management System (MCTIMS) enterprise training program, InfoReliance said in a prepared statement.

Security Partners

InfoReliance offers McAfee product consulting and integration in several areas, including:

  • Data center security.
  • Email and web security.
  • Endpoint protection.
  • Network defense.
  • Security information and event management (SIEM).

As a McAfee Tier 1 MSP partner, InfoReliance provides security-as-a-service offerings from a monthly subscription to an hourly consumption basis, according to the company. InfoReliance also is a McAfee cloud channel partner that provides cloud security solutions for Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure and Office 365.

InfoReliance today offers cyber threat analysis, security operations center (SOC) support and other cybersecurity services. The company's McAfee customers include the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and other government agencies.

McAfee: Key Win

The Army contract is a win on multiple fronts for McAfee. After struggling under Intel's ownership in recent years, McAfee became an independent company in early 2017. The move allowed McAfee to rekindle numerous channel partnerships. It also set the stage for McAfee to work more closely with established MSPs and emerging MSSPs.

Still, McAfee is in evolution mode. The company cut about 10 percent of its staff sometime between July and August 2017.
