Palo Alto Networks Launches SOAR Marketplace

Palo Alto Networks ($PANW) has created a marketplace for its Cortex XSOAR security orchestration, automation and response (SOAR) platform, according to a prepared statement. The marketplace enables Palo Alto Networks customers to access a community of security experts and choose content packs that have been evaluated by the company and rated by other customers.

The Cortex XSOAR Marketplace launches with content packs available from the following cybersecurity companies:

In addition, 450 existing Cortex XSOAR integrations are currently available via the marketplace.

Palo Alto Networks Launches SOAR Hackathon

Along with the launch of its Cortex XSOAR Marketplace, Palo Alto Networks has announced the Automation Rising 2020 SOAR Hackathon.

Automation Rising is a competition that encourages security experts to develop new orchestration playbooks for Cortex SOAR, Palo Alto Networks stated. These experts can deliver new Cortex SOAR playbooks that help Palo Alto Networks customers manage security workflows, triage alerts and investigate incidents.

With Automation Rising, security experts can provide Cortex SOAR playbooks for general security, Palo Alto Network products or specific business use cases. They also may be eligible for prizes if they integrate Palo Alto Networks sponsors' APIs into their solutions.

Automation Rising runs until October 30, and the competition has $60,000 in prizes.

A Closer Look at Palo Alto Networks and the SOAR Market

Cortex XSOAR is based on the Palo Alto Networks acquisition of Demisto in 2019. The SOAR platform has native threat intelligence management capabilities. Cortex SOAR orchestrates actions across an organization's security product stack and automates up to 95 percent of all incident response actions, according to the company.

The company looks poised to capitalize on a global SOAR market that is projected to grow.
