Qualys Expands Ivanti Integration, Adds Patch Management for Apple macOS

Qualys, an information security and compliance solutions provider, now enables Vulnerability Management Detection Response (VMDR) platform users to leverage Ivanti patch management technology to patch Apple macOS systems and over 70 third-party Mac applications, according to a prepared statement.

Organizations can leverage VMDR in combination with Ivanti patch management to automate macOS patch remediation, the companies stated. In doing so, they can quickly detect vulnerabilities and deploy pre-tested Mac patches across various third-party applications to speed up threat response and remediation.

Along with macOS patching, VMDR provides Ivanti patch coverage for security and non-security content for all Microsoft supported products, operating systems and applications, Qualys stated. The Ivanti patch catalog also is used to secure over 180 million endpoints globally.

Qualys Acquires Spell Security

The expanded Ivanti integration for VMDR comes after Qualys this week acquired endpoint detection and response (EDR) company Spell Security.

Spell Security provides Qualys with a variety of security capabilities, including:

  • Continuous collection of host telemetry
  • MITRE-based detections across endpoints
  • Automatic telemetry correlation with context of historical threat events
  • Incident investigation and response instrumentation based on threat models

Furthermore, Qualys CEO Philippe Courtot told MSSP Alert that Spell Security software will be MSSP-friendly, and his company has no plans to compete with MSSPs.

MSSPs can partner with Qualys to deliver a vulnerability management, detection and response and multi-vector EDR services to global organizations, the company stated. In doing so, MSSPs can leverage Qualys solutions to assess security vulnerabilities and protect their customers against cyberattacks.
