IAM Hire: Ping Identity Appoints COO, GM of Cloud Software

Ping Identity, a company that specializes in identity and access management (IAM) solutions, has appointed Kim Nagel as its COO and Ed Roberto as its GM of cloud software.

Nagel is expected to manage Ping's go-to-market strategy, including product, sales and marketing, according to the company. He previously served as CEO of Vindicia, a subscription billing and recurring payment solutions provider, and held operations, sales and engineering roles at Apple, CSG, Portal Software (which was acquired by Oracle in 2006) and SS8 Networks.

Roberto will help Ping meet the needs of organizations looking to bolster their identity infrastructure, adopt cloud solutions and create a consistent identity security experience across their IT environments, the company said. He possesses more than 30 years of technology, software and strategy experience.

Ping Adds CTO, Chief Customer Information Officer

In addition to the Nagel and Roberto hires, Ping last month named Bernard Harguindeguy as its CTO and Richard Bird as its chief customer information officer.

Harguindeguy will drive Ping's technology product direction and innovation, the company said. He most recently served as Ping's SVP of intelligence after the company in June acquired Elastic Beam, an application programming interface (API) cybersecurity provider.

Bird will act as an advisor to the Ping community and global marketplace, according to the company. He previously served as executive director of the CISO practice at Optiv Security, a Top 100 MSSP, and has more than 20 years of corporate business, technology and security operations experience.

What Is Ping?

Ping offers an intelligent access platform designed to help organizations securely connect to cloud, mobile, software-as-a-service (SaaS) and on-premises applications and APIs, the company said. The Ping platform offers a variety of security capabilities, including:

  • Access Security: Delivers real-time access security for apps and APIs.
  • Data Governance: Helps organizations manage data privacy and consent and comply with regulatory mandates.
  • Single Sign-On (SSO): Leverages adaptive authentication to provide one-click access to apps.

Ping also provides the PingPartner Network (PPN), a global network of MSSPs, systems integrators (SIs) and technology resellers. PPN enables channel partners to integrate Ping's platform and solutions into their security offerings.
